ACT Prep Class

The Alvin Community Center, in partnership with Inspired Consulting Group will host a two-day ACT Prep class. Here are the details:

When: July 22 & 23, 2022 9:00 am to 4:30 pm each day

Where: Alvin Community Center

**This class is ideal for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are preparing to take the ACT exam.

This comprehensive class will provide an overview of the composition of the ACT and test-taking strategies that can enhance performance on the exam. More specifically, we will cover the following information:

English

We will provide an overview of concepts relevant to this section of the ACT exam. Key concepts that we will cover include but are not limited to: the proper use of colons, semicolons, and commas; subject-verb agreement and verb tenses; possessive plural and singular; parallel structure; modifiers (adjectives and adverbs); and sentence structure.

Math

Writing algebraic expressions and equations; mean, median, and mode, coordinate and plane geometry; trigonometry

Reading

Reading comprehension and test-taking skills that will improve students' ability to analyze the passages and maximize the time allotted to complete the reading section of the exam.

Science

Critical thinking skills necessary to maximize time and analyze data on tables and graphs.

**Prior knowledge of scientific concepts (periodic table, chemical compounds of different elements, etc.) is NOT necessary for success of the science portion of the ACT.

Instructors

Instruction for the Science, Reading, and English portions of the class will be provided by Corey Beauford. Instruction for the Math portion of the class will be provided by expert active and retired professional educators.
